On Friday, November 21, 2025, Phi Delta Theta officially inducted 55 new re-founding members into the Maryland Alpha Emerging Chapter. The Maryland Alpha chapter originally established its roots on campus in College Park in 1930. While the chapter temporarily faced a suspension starting in Fall 2023 due to regulatory violations, the fraternity has officially returned to campus and initiated its rebuilding phase.

Many alumni were present for the event including House Corporation President Adam Luecking, Gamma South Province President Jason Schwemer, Delta North Province President Austin DeRay, Phi Delta Theta EVP and CEO Sean Wagner, Phi Delta Theta General Council President Nat Love, Past President of the General Council David Almacy, and Washington, DC Alumni Club President Henry Heren.

Phi Delta Theta has been fully reinstated and is an actively recognized organization by the University of Maryland Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life. The emerging chapter actively hosts recruitment periods, including formal Fall and Spring rush schedules and they maintain occupancy of their historic, alumni-owned chapter house located at 4605 College Avenue in College Park.

The group is working toward installation where they will reinstate their charter during a formal ceremony in early Fall 2026.
